Hey there! Thanks for stopping by, we're thrilled to have you. Allow us to introduce ourselves: we're Scott and Vanessa, owners of Bear Claw Custom Vans. Scott is a Marine Engineer by trade, with experience on 1000 ft ships that sail the Great Lakes. When he was home from the ships, Scott worked as a finish carpenter in high-end homes in Maine. Vanessa is a Registered Nurse currently based in Maine, but with previous travel assignments in New Hampshire, Oregon and Washington. Together we have enjoyed converting and traveling cross-country in a few different vans and have even built our own beautiful home in Naples, Maine.

Our vanlife journey started in 2016, when Vanessa took her first travel nurse assignment in Washington state. We figured, what better way to travel out west than to buy a van, convert it and travel. Our first van was a 1997 Dodge Ram Van; we built it out with a bed, kitchen/ cooking area, and plenty of storage for all of our gear and essentials. We set out that October, with our cat Burton, and we instantly fell in love with traveling in a van. On our way back home that next spring, we spent a month and a half on the road, exploring and enjoying some of the western U.S. It was on this trip that we also found and rescued our dog Zona.

After that trip, we converted two more vans and continued travelling across country a total of four times; our longest trip being almost three months long. On our trips, we enjoy skiing/snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, sight-seeing, paddle-boarding and pretty much anything outdoors. In 2019 when we converted our 2005 dodge sprinter, is when we knew we wanted to extend this passion for traveling in a van to other adventurers like ourselves.

Over the past years of multiple cross-country road-trips and weekend adventures around New England, we have gained a wealth of knowledge and experiences in the world of van conversions.
